How are the points awarded for a sparring contest

There are 2 different scoring systems.

First is by judges,

1.1A normal kick to the padding with sufficient strength and sound by the judgement of the judges, 1 pt will be given.

1.2A spinning kick to the padding, 2 pts wi be given.

1.3 A normal kick to the head whereby, any part of your feet just have to touch any part of the human head, 3 pts will be given, and 4 pts wi be given for spinning kick to the head.

Secondly, it's the electronic scoring system.

1.1 There are sensors on a E-Foot protector worn by fighters, different weight n age category have different hit counts. The sensor has to touch the padding n the padding must be able to sense it. If the hit count is reached, with a normal kick, 1 pt will be automatically given by the system.

1.2 If it's a spinning kick, 1 pt will be given and then the judges will add another pt for a body spinning kick. Thus, this is creates a fair game for everyone in tkd, rather than judgement of the judges.

1.3 For head kicks, pts will be all given by the judges.

My Question goes out to Mr Jeremy Tan, I would like to ask about the Uniforms worn for International Taekwondo Federation, are they of the same kind?

Generally, uniforms worn by International Taekwon-Do Federation members are of the same. The uniforms, known as "doboks" in Korean, can be identified by the following traits:

1. The Evergreen symbol on the back of the uniform, with the words "TAEKWON-DO" as the tree top and the 3 Korean letters of Taekwon-Do as the stem. This symbolizes the flourish and growth of Taekwon-Do

2. The International Taekwon-Do Federation badge is situated on the member's left chest.

3. "ITF" on the side of the pants in vertical format

4. Additionally, Black Belt members have black linings along the bottom edge of the uniform top. 4th Degree and above Black Belts have additional black stripes running along the sides of the pants and only certified International Instructors (4th Degree and above) will include the black stripes on the sleeves of the uniform tops.

Hope this clarifies your question!

Yours Sincerely,
Jeremy Tan (ITF)
