As a competitive swimmer, do you watch what you eat?

Yes. We have to watch what we eat. Depending on which training phase we are at. For example, when we are at the endurance phase which means high volume work but low intensity, this is when we need to consume more carbohydrates so as to fuel ourselves and to keep up with our workload. During phases like specific race work or taper period, this is when we decrease our carbohydrates intake and take in more protein to increase our strength.
